can you drive with the drop link out?

well what a crap day, i have been givving everything a good poking about with a screw driver to see whats givving me the clunking noise and decided that it it was the top end bush in the strut, while disconnecting the top of the drop link the infernal crap design that are torx keys stripped, leaving the drop link kind a half in and half out but....... i live in the ar$e hole of no where the quickest time i can get a drop link for is Tuesday.... patience i hear you cry, i am in scotland with my kit and i need to be in basingstoke to go to afgan by monday. as i cant get it to tighten back up and i cant get a replacement if i cut it off would it do much dammage by driving it? ( all be it 400 miles)

I have had the same problem and managed to get a small set of mole grips behind the strut part and undo the nut that way. I also used loads of WD40 before I started.

cheers jim thats what i have ended up doing, i got it off, redressed the threads refaced the inerior of the bolt and whacked it back on, the knocking noise i had was from the anti roll bar hitting the fire wall because the top mount was 60 degrres out from where it was ment to be now she sits straight and no clunking, job jobbed Afgan here i come lol many thanks Jim
